The Art Teacher

Hi there! I'm Marrissa, the creator of Yellow Spot:Sun and have been homeschooling my three kiddos since 2013. Prior to homeschooling my own kiddos, I earned my Master's Degree in Art Education and taught art in At-Risk public schools for nearly a decade. Yellow Spot:Sun was created in 2017 because I wanted to help other homeschooling families have access to quality art education at an affordable cost from the comfort from their own homes. With over twenty years of art teaching experience, I am continually adding new courses to the site. You can find lessons that are based on history, literature or the seasons. Many of the lessons include videos of me teaching the art technique step-by-step. Some are downloadable "do it yourself" PDF's. It is my hope and prayer that these courses will be a blessing to you and your kiddos and that the desire to create will be ignited in each of them that fosters a love of the arts for a lifetime! Sincerely, Marrissa

“First, the children (age 4-7) all chose 1 style of bug to draw and color. One child was enthused, 2 semi enthused, and 1 not enthused. However, after watching the video once during their lunch to prep them for the assignment, and then drawing while watching, all 4 attitudes were positive. They remained focused and the "steps" were introduced in a timely fashion allowing them time to process. Second, the "beautiful oops" book review hit the spot with the oldest (perfectionist) and she wants to purchase the book. Thank you for encouraging the kids in a positive way and then correlating it with a biblical perspective. Love your approach and will be purchasing soon.”
